This past weekend (January 10th, 2016) GCDTV hosted tournament number 4 of its 9 tournament bi-weekly proleague. The qualifiers started the weekend off in a very interesting finish as team “Holy Crow, the name is a nod to gcdtv’s own dmachine” consisting of Supatease, Lossa, and Tazz qualify in the finals playing Balance druid, Warrior, Resto druid in some of the series.
Following the qualifiers I didn’t think there would be any news more interesting than that a double druid comp winning, but boy was I wrong.
In the upper bracket cloud9 convincingly makes it to the finals, taking out Supatease’s “Holy Crow” team, Team Splyce, and Beanslayers team “Please Sponser us”.
Meanwhile the crowd favorite yet seemingly underdog based off past weeks performances, the team of “Method orange” who this week consisted of Cdew, Smexxin, and Snutz, who played only WLS in the tournament, loses in the upper bracket to rivals Tempo Storm and are sent to the lower bracket. They then prove that they are not out of it as they 3-0 Method Black. Method Orange then faces and wins a 3-2 victory over team splyce. They then sweep Tempo Storm, Please Sponser us, and Cloud9 without dropping a game to become the victors.
This is a big win as they came in the tournament with a 3 man roster didn’t switch comps in the face of counters. Many critics of the older players who deem snutz and cdew washed up will have to seriously consider their feelings after the tournament.
Congratulations to GCDTV on a well done tournament, peaking over 19 thousand viewers at one point.
